my scrap area is a third of our hobby room {as we call this particular room at home}.  i share it with my hubby and my son's computer area.  and opposite my space is a mattress where they can bunk anytime and a small tv and a dvd player.  i guess that explains it why we call it our 'hobby room'.  hihi.
 
my area consists of my son's old baby cabinet, a table and shelves for books, magazines, containers for my embellishments and my music.

that is my hubby's bald head at the bottom of the picture and my son, JP, is sitting at my chair.
 
the main structure {hihi, my scrapping is like engineering} is an old cabinet made when JP was born so that i can have his clothes separate from ours.  this cabinet houses most of my scrapping materials.  and like a house, i frequently change the arrangement of its content {pag di ako mapakali, hihi}.  i installed small drawers {found in hardward stores} where i store my buttons, beads, rhinestones, clips, charms, etc.  i also have a paper tray {from lasting impressions} for my 12x12 papers.  had my hubby install small shelves so i can maximize the vertical wall  space of the cabinet.  my albums, cutting and writing materials, stamps and alphas are all in here.  and my paper trimmers are hanging at the side of this cabinet.  it is the heart of my scrapping area.

my table was bought from a coworker.  it has drawers that house some of my embelishments {felt, tags, stickers, etc} and tools {punchers and staplers}.  the shelf above my table has my displays, more containers for embellishments and speakers for my MP3 and casette player {oo, meron pa akong casette tapes na di mapakawalan...hihi}
 
while the shelf to the left of my cabinet was from an old table {salvaged by my hubby} converted it to a shelf to house other containers of scrap papers, felts and ribbons.  my magazines and books are here and my son's books as well.  this area also includes my inspirations. 
 
every now and then, i add tiny bits and pieces. but right now, this is my sanctuary.

happy and productive

the scrapfest did my scrapping blood some good because i was in the mood to create and apply the techniques i have learned at the event as well as tips i got from friends and fellow scrappers.
 
here are the layouts i finished during my days off {in between doing the laundry, dishes and preparing lunch, hehe, multitasking}...so happy...hihi.
 
i am so loving the pebbles inc chalks and letter templates that i got from marisa {scrapbooks hawaii}.  they are my NOW favorite to play around with.

after a very tiring day {that was scrapfest 5}, the sight of a baby can only {simply} make you smile.

scrapfest layouts

aside from raffle prizes, there were contests where you have to work your {butt} off to produce your entry hihi.  j/k, actually i have enjoyed doing these layouts {though it was a realization for me...that i really cannot create under pressure}.

there was the magnolia ice cream contest and here is the layout that i made.  it was a picture from last year which i enjoy a lot because it shows how much my son loves his ice cream after a meal.
 
and then, the on-the-spot challenge.  i was in the amateur division {parang boxing noh} hihi.
 
my layout {nahalo lang po} in the midst of beautiful creations of the talented ladies at the scrapfest.
 
we also had the dress up your beltbag.  here is mine with the other entries.  i really like candy's bag {the one at the bottom, she covered most of it in black}.  i still plan in improving my bag {meaning more embellies} so that i can display it at home. 
 
in summary, my scrapfest experience was tiring but fun.  scrapfest = happiness

an iris and a 12x6 minibook tutorials plus a very cute little girl

scrapfest was filled with a lot of shopping and fun activities.  while some are still store shopping, iris was teaching us the different uses of acrylic paint in altered items and scrapbook layouts.

in her tutorial, i learned the different ways other people see usual materials around them that can improve the final outcome of altered items and layouts.  it sure gave ideas on how i can make use of my piling paints and stamps.
the other tutorial was for a 12x6 mini book of our favorite photos where different stamping techniques were taught.  i was not able to finish my mini there but i made it a point to do it at home and apply as much as possible the techniques that i learned at the scrapfest.  miss liza bermudez was the scrappin mom assisting our table. {thank you liza, you were a great teacher}

here is the fruit of my labor, a collection of my favorite family photos.  i am not quite satisfied with it yet so i may throw in a few more embellishments to complete my mini book.
lastly, this cute little girl graced the scrapfest after the awarding of winners.  a beautiful girl who made me wish for a girl for our next baby.  hihi.

scrapfest, the initiation

it was my first scrapfest and whew! what an initiation. 

dawn of may 17 i prepared my things (usual of me, i prepared so much stuff!), did the magnolia layout and dressed up my beltbag.

we had a storm the day before and it was still raining when yoyin and romely picked me up at 7.30 in the morning.  we thought we had enough time to be early birds (early worms according to my hubby) but oh lo, when we got there, there were at least 1/3 of the scrapfest attendees.  {next scrapfest, maybe we can leave before sunrise to be early worms hihi.  what do you think yoyin and rome?}

anyway, it didn't matter if we weren't early birds or early worms, we arrived in time and i can hardly contain myself.  peeking through the glass doors while the scrappin moms were preparing the final touches for the event. eeeh!  cannot wait to enter the venue.

our day started with shopping.  i had a list but when it was time to shop, i can't make up my mind which items i want to get because i want to get one of each items that i see.

sad i was on a budget and i cannot really splurge but i am very happy because i got the chalks that i wanted (from miss marisa of scrapbooks hawaii) and lots of lil stamps from jane (rekindled moments).  bought some papers and cardstocks, page protectors and a 7 gypsies love stamps.

the day was fun-filled and prize-filled as well.  no one left the scrapfest emptyhanded.  and i admire the scrappin moms for making sure that everyone was happy.  i won some flowers and a half-gallon of ice cream in the raffle.

met a lot of nice people whom i only get to chat with through the groups and through email.  too bad there was not enough time to chat with everyone but i promise next scrapfest, i will take time to go around and say hi to everyone.  it was so nice seeing the ladies in the event.
