a christmas layout

and this layout is of our 2nd christmas together.  it was the 2nd we've celebrated together since JP was born but it was the first one when JP can interact and socialize. 
we were so excited that year in buying gifts.  we got JP a car city.  i can still remember how eager he was to open the huge package.  moreso, when he found plenty of toy cars.  oh boy.

getting it on...

this is an-almost finished 12x12 lift from the gatefold album [scrapjam].  i used the paper pack Marisa (who is so kind) gave me.  these are kaiser-craft papers with a boys theme.  i will still be including pictures of tiny JP during his first year.  pictures of him learning to walk.  his interactions with mommy and daddy.  the milestones of his first year.

sketch

i found this bargain creating keepsakes magazine early last year and i fell in love with becky higgins.  liked the sketch in her column because it works with multiple photos.  she is very good with that set up, lots of photos in a single sketch.  gave it a try too.  this kind of sketch works well for events when you simply cannot stop snapping that camera shot after shot after shot.  

 and here is my take on the sketch. 
i just love that pocket, i can include a bunch of photos on the event that i was scrapping.

gatefold album (more scrapjam)

and my gatefold album (which is my favorite because it is actually the first project i did of me and my ruben)  and i also enjoyed doing it [the most].
 

 i am really glad that Marisa decided to have the AC jam.  i have learned a lot.  thanks Marisa.

ac scrapjam projects

 we had the Angeles City scrapjam on July 11 but it was only during my last week's days off that i had the chance to finish my 2-page layout, my gatefold album, melissa frances card and an additional layout from the boys paper pack Marisa gave me when she came over to the phils. 

because we were assisting the other participants, yoyin, rome and i were not able to start our projects at the jam.

old school

look at what i discovered yesterday.  saw these from the albums my grandmother brought to our house from her home.  these were pictures of my nephew when he was born.  i was fresh out of college while my sister (his mom) was still studying when he was born, so i was left the task of making sure that my nephew's growing years are documented in pictures.

i can't even remember ever doing this album with mattings and letter cut outs.

what i remember though is that i have always been a crafty girl.  got it from my mom.  i still recall our photo albums designed with magazine cutouts.  will have to check those albums the next time we visit home {what had happened to those cutouts, if they have already fallen apart}

my scrap area is a third of our hobby room {as we call this particular room at home}.  i share it with my hubby and my son's computer area.  and opposite my space is a mattress where they can bunk anytime and a small tv and a dvd player.  i guess that explains it why we call it our 'hobby room'.  hihi.
 
my area consists of my son's old baby cabinet, a table and shelves for books, magazines, containers for my embellishments and my music.

that is my hubby's bald head at the bottom of the picture and my son, JP, is sitting at my chair.
 
the main structure {hihi, my scrapping is like engineering} is an old cabinet made when JP was born so that i can have his clothes separate from ours.  this cabinet houses most of my scrapping materials.  and like a house, i frequently change the arrangement of its content {pag di ako mapakali, hihi}.  i installed small drawers {found in hardward stores} where i store my buttons, beads, rhinestones, clips, charms, etc.  i also have a paper tray {from lasting impressions} for my 12x12 papers.  had my hubby install small shelves so i can maximize the vertical wall  space of the cabinet.  my albums, cutting and writing materials, stamps and alphas are all in here.  and my paper trimmers are hanging at the side of this cabinet.  it is the heart of my scrapping area.

my table was bought from a coworker.  it has drawers that house some of my embelishments {felt, tags, stickers, etc} and tools {punchers and staplers}.  the shelf above my table has my displays, more containers for embellishments and speakers for my MP3 and casette player {oo, meron pa akong casette tapes na di mapakawalan...hihi}
 
while the shelf to the left of my cabinet was from an old table {salvaged by my hubby} converted it to a shelf to house other containers of scrap papers, felts and ribbons.  my magazines and books are here and my son's books as well.  this area also includes my inspirations. 
 
every now and then, i add tiny bits and pieces. but right now, this is my sanctuary.

happy and productive

the scrapfest did my scrapping blood some good because i was in the mood to create and apply the techniques i have learned at the event as well as tips i got from friends and fellow scrappers.
 
here are the layouts i finished during my days off {in between doing the laundry, dishes and preparing lunch, hehe, multitasking}...so happy...hihi.
 
i am so loving the pebbles inc chalks and letter templates that i got from marisa {scrapbooks hawaii}.  they are my NOW favorite to play around with.

scrapfest layouts

aside from raffle prizes, there were contests where you have to work your {butt} off to produce your entry hihi.  j/k, actually i have enjoyed doing these layouts {though it was a realization for me...that i really cannot create under pressure}.

there was the magnolia ice cream contest and here is the layout that i made.  it was a picture from last year which i enjoy a lot because it shows how much my son loves his ice cream after a meal.
 
and then, the on-the-spot challenge.  i was in the amateur division {parang boxing noh} hihi.
 
my layout {nahalo lang po} in the midst of beautiful creations of the talented ladies at the scrapfest.
 
we also had the dress up your beltbag.  here is mine with the other entries.  i really like candy's bag {the one at the bottom, she covered most of it in black}.  i still plan in improving my bag {meaning more embellies} so that i can display it at home. 
 
in summary, my scrapfest experience was tiring but fun.  scrapfest = happiness
